MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. – Coast Guard personnel will be conducting dockside exams and safety spot-checks in various Humboldt, Del Norte and Mendocino County ports, Nov. 5-10, 2009, prior to the opening of the dungeness crab season.  See article in Coast Guard News.

The Faces of California Fishing will be tabling at the Morro Bay Harbor Festival October 3-4 along with the Central Coast Women for Fisheries.  Our displays will include even more great pictures, children’s activities such as the popular “fish prints”, fish necklaces, fresh fish display and a fishing gear display. 

We are also joining forces for the Great Agventure where 4th graders from San Luis Obispo County are invited to learn where their food comes from at the Paso Robles Fairgrounds.  This event is on October 7.

The Faces of California Fishing will be at a very special event at the Maritime Hall Exhibit Building at the 2009 Monterey County Fair (August 12-16) due to the Fair’s theme this year, “Reel in the Fun.”

The Monterey Maritime Museum is installing some outstanding historic exhibits and Randy’s Fishing and Whale Watching Trips will also be creating a display.

The Faces of California Fishing notes that fishing is about people.  Fishing supports coastal communities and provides consumers with fresh, local seafood.  It’s not a “fish” it is the entire economy in small coastal towns.
