Anyone who has watched “The Dealiest Catch” or commerically fishes themselves knows that bringing seafood to our tables is a dangerous job. This is unfortunately a harsh reality.
What can be done to make things safer?
The Faces of California Fishing recently met staff from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the Seattle Pacific Marine Expo who work to help spread info on occupational safety and health.

According to the site:
The commercial fishing industry consistently experiences one of the highest occupational fatality rates in the country. In 2007, commercial fishermen had the most dangerous job in the United States, with an annual fatality rate that was 28 times greater than the rate of all U.S. workers (112 and 4 per 100,000, respectively).
